UAE Visit Visa for Relatives – Complete Guide 2025

UAE Visit Visa for Relatives – Complete Guide 2025

If you are living in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and want to invite your relatives on a visit visa, it is important to understand the latest rules and requirements. In 2024 and 2025, UAE introduced new regulations for visit visa sponsorship. In this blog post, we will explain in detail how to sponsor your relatives on a UAE visit visa, what documents are required, the minimum salary requirements, and the penalties for breaking the rules.

Who Can Sponsor a Visit Visa in UAE?

Any UAE resident with a valid residence visa and Emirates ID can sponsor their relatives for a visit visa. The sponsor must have a stable income, proper accommodation, and meet all government requirements.

Which Relatives Can Be Sponsored?

  • First-degree relatives → Parents, spouse, children

  • Second-degree relatives → Siblings, grandparents

  • Extended relatives (uncle, aunt, cousins) → Allowed, but with higher salary requirements

Minimum Salary Requirement

The sponsor’s minimum monthly salary must meet the following criteria:

  • Parents, spouse, children (first-degree relatives) → AED 4,000

  • Siblings, grandparents (second-degree relatives) → AED 8,000

  • Friends or non-relatives (special case) → AED 15,000

Required Documents for a UAE Visit Visa

From the Sponsor:

  • Emirates ID + Passport copy (with residence visa page)

  • Salary certificate or labour contract

  • Bank statement (last 3–6 months)

  • Tenancy contract / Ejari or proof of accommodation

  • Utility bill (for address proof)

From the Visitor:

  • Passport (valid for at least 6 months)

  • Passport-size photographs (white background)

  • Return air ticket (confirmed booking)

  • Travel insurance (medical coverage required)

  • Proof of relationship (birth certificate, marriage certificate, family certificate, often attested by UAE Embassy/MOFA)

Visa Duration

  • Commonly issued for 30 or 60 days

  • In some cases, a 90-day visa is available

  • Can be extended by paying additional fees

Application Process (Step by Step)

  1. The sponsor applies through the ICP portal (for Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, etc.) or the GDRFA portal (for Dubai).

  2. Upload documents and pay the visa fees (around AED 350–600 depending on duration).

  3. Once approved, the e-visa is sent by email.

Important Rules & Regulations

  • Working on a visit visa is strictly illegal.

  • The visa must be extended or exited before it expires. The grace period has been removed.

  • Overstay fines start immediately once the visa expires.

  • Sponsors may also face penalties if their visitor overstays.

Penalties for Violating Rules

  • Overstay fine → AED 50 per day

  • Absconding case → AED 2,000 fine + possible entry ban

  • Sponsor penalties → fines, restrictions, or issues with future visa approvals

Conclusion

If you plan to invite your relatives to the UAE on a visit visa, make sure you meet the minimum salary requirements, submit all required documents correctly, and manage the visa duration carefully. With the grace period removed, overstaying leads to immediate fines and legal issues.

This guide provides you with the step-by-step process and requirements so you can sponsor your family members in the UAE smoothly and without complications.
